After a person dies for the first time in GTA Online, passive mode is introduced. It is explained by Cris Formage and is simply the state of the character where he can neither die nor kill others. Players in passive mode can easily be spotted as the map shows a unique sign at their locations and the same symbol can be seen over their heads too. Note that a player is in passive mode only when he is walking by foot, using any vehicles will cause you the same damage as it is like in the normal game.
Classic Passive Mode GTA 5
The Passive Mode in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of GTA 5 is called the classic one. In this mode, the player simply gets immune to all the damage and hence doesn’t have to fear from the enemies. However, there are some exceptions to it. Firstly, if a person is riding a car, the passive mode deactivates and a single bullet can make him die at the spot. Similarly, if a character runs a car over him, he’ll die or get injured. One other thing to be noted is that if a player in passive mode shoots someone, this mode will disappear immediately.
Enhanced Passive Mode GTA 5
This is for the Xbox One, PC and PS4 users and is a little different from the former one. It is basically the ghost mode since the players with activated passive mode appear to be slightly transparent to others. In this effect, the players get resistant to damage, whether they are on the street by themselves, or are sitting in a vehicle. No one is able to harm them and vice versa. However, if a sticky bomb is placed to an object standing near the player, and that object is currently in real mode, the explosion will definitely cause damage to the character.
How to turn Passive Mode On and Off?
Passive mode can be turned off and on as per our desire. However, there is a five-minute gap between two successive activations. Here is the way one can activate or deactivate this much-useful mode in GTA 5.
- First of all, go to the Interaction Menu.
- You will see an option reading ‘Passive Mode’.
- After clicking it, there will be buttons allowing you to turn this mode on or off.
- This is all to do and your work is done.
